Coinciding with the Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF)’s 30th anniversary, Singapore launched the IYC on 4 December 2011 at Resorts World Sentosa with Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat as Guest-of-Honour.

Up until 2008, credit co-operatives were self-regulated. The turning point was when the financial crisis hit the world and Singapore was not spared. The crisis highlighted the importance and complexities of the financial markets and governance issues.

The Singapore National Co-operative Federation (SNCF) is taking that sentiment to another level in 2012 with an innovative strategy to bring the co-operative movement into the public consciousness.
